Prosperity & Luck Customized Sweatshirts
In March 2020, when COVID-19 first hit, I decided to launch a personal project combining two of my favorite things: fashion and illustration. Over the course of a few months I illustrated, created, produced, marketed, and sold an original line of sweatshirts.
Artwork and meaning
The artwork combines traditional Japanese art and modern street style. The characters depict “Prosperity & Luck” in Japanese, which is the traditional meaning of Koi fish. Furthermore, the red circle represents “the rising sun” of Japan.

When creating these sweatshirts, revenue and profit were not the main goals; but rather bringing something that I loved to life. Therefore, I only produced 60 sweatshirts in total.
Prior to launching the sweatshirts, I shot and created social posts that introduced and teased the sweatshirts, garnering excitement. Once launched, I sold all of the sweatshirts within 1 week, resulting in over $5,500 in profit from this personal project.
